Christmas in March.
For Christmas I gave Carl a gift certificate for a fossil hunting trip with Paleo Discoveries on the Peace River in Florida. We decided to go hunting to celebrate his birthday in March. To do this we stayed overnight at the Bate’s Motel (The Oak Park Inn) in Arcadia FL (not recommended). The next morning we met up at Payne’s Creek SP where we paddled down stream about 1/2 mile, then spent about 4 1/2 hours digging gravel up from the riverbed in waist deep water and sifting it to see what we could find. To say this was a workout would be an understatement. It was, thankfully, productive. After our hours of digging we paddled upstream to return to the put-in. It was just a tad difficult. We had a blast and I slept really well. Here are a few pictures from our adventure and some of our favorite finds.
While visiting Green Cay Sanctuary (Boynton Beach FL) this week, I was able to photograph a trio of look-alikes. My first time photographing all three in the same day.
