Where did the sun go?

We are paying the price for the beautiful weather we had during the first half of our trip. Sometime last weekend the skies turned gray and the dreary weather has followed us south to Delaware.

Before leaving New Jersey we took a few misty walks at the parks near my brother, made an overnight trip to visit our friends Dennis and Louise in Connecticut, spent a few damp hours fossil hunting, then said thank you and farewell to my brother and sister-in-law and headed south. We picked up Possum (thanks again Pam & Tony) and pointed her nose towards Delaware.

Our first stop in Delaware was Lums Pond State Park. A truly pleasant campground with lots of trails and a nice lake. Unfortunately the drippy weather kept us from fully enjoying it. Making lemonade out of lemons, we spent an afternoon at the Delaware Art Museum, which has a really nice collection of works by American artists. Alas, the rain stopped us from checking out what looked to be an interesting sculpture garden. Something for next time.

We are now at Delaware Seashore State Park. One of our all time favorites. We have been coming here since 2005, when we had our pop-up camper. Despite the fact that the sites are one on top of another, the view across the marsh, the smell of the salt air, and the beautiful beaches keep us coming back.

The photo at right is from our first visit.
