Life is good!
I started the week at one of our favorite birding venues, camera in hand, and finished up at the 50th Annual International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. In between we checked out the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens during our morning dog walk.
On Sunday we spent several hours at Peaceful Waters Sanctuary visiting with our bird friends. Among them was this Northern Pintail female, a not so common winter visitor to Florida. A fun fact from Cornell Labs AllAboutBirds.com web site: Northern Pintails migrate at night at speeds around 48 miles per hour. The longest nonstop flight recorded for a Northern Pintail was 1,800 miles.

On Wednesday I flew about half the distance of the record holding Pintail and ended up in Houston Texas for the International Quilt Festival. This is the fourth time I have met up with my good buddy Cindy to attend this event. As always, we had a great time, saw some awesome quilts, and learned some new techniques. Thus inspired, we also bought some fabric. Go figure.
