I love being part
. . . of citizen science. I contribute photos to eBird, iNaturalist and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI). Over the years I have reported fish bands, bird bands and horseshoe crab tags. Occasionally I hear back about the history of the critter associated with the band/tag. This is the first time I have received an email like this one from eBird that included the following:
American Kestrel, Oxbow Eco-Center,
Port St. Lucie FL
And so it goes. This week we visited Oxbow Eco-Center and hiked the trails along the canal and river where we found lots of birds. I took the time to submit an eBird survey along with some pictures like this one. Who knows? Maybe they will be in the next Merlin training session.
